How I built uidrop.dev — a UI store powered by AI and late nights

I'm Ayush, a frontend developer who got tired of rebuilding the same components. So I built uidrop.dev — a library of premium UI designs for developers who want to ship faster.

Every project I started, I found myself doing the same thing — building a navbar, a hero section, a pricing card, an auth page. From scratch. Every. Single. Time. And I'm not alone. Most frontend developers spend 40–60% of their time rebuilding UI that already exists somewhere else.

The problem nobody talks about

The real cost isn't just time. It's the mental energy spent on decisions that don't move your project forward — which gradient looks better, how much border radius, what font size on mobile. These micro-decisions add up. By the time you've 'designed' the landing page, you're too tired to work on the actual product.

“The best code is the code you don't have to write. The best UI is the UI you don't have to design from scratch.”

Something I tell myself every sprint

Why uidrop.dev is different from ThemeForest and others

ThemeForest sells bloated WordPress themes built in 2018. You get 47 pages, 200 plugins, jQuery, and a 3-hour setup. uidrop.dev is the opposite — every component is built with Next.js 15, Tailwind CSS, and TypeScript. It's production code, not demo code.

  • No jQuery. No Bootstrap. No legacy CSS. Pure Tailwind.
  • Every component works in Next.js App Router out of the box
  • Responsive by default — tested on mobile, tablet, desktop
  • Dark mode ready on every component
  • Copy-paste ready — no config files, no plugins needed
  • AI-assisted design — I use AI as a co-pilot, not a replacement

The biggest thing we launched: Full Website Themes

Components are great — but sometimes you need a complete, ready-to-deploy website. That's why we built the uidrop.dev Themes Marketplace. These aren't component packs. These are full production websites — restaurant sites, e-commerce stores, SaaS dashboards, portfolios — with every page designed, every component connected, and the full source code included.

“Buy a theme once. Own it forever. Deploy in a day.”

 The uidrop.dev promise

Every theme is built with Next.js 15 + Tailwind CSS + TypeScript. You get the full ZIP — no subscriptions, no monthly fees, no license restrictions. Just production-ready code that you own. Our first theme — the E-Commerce theme — is already live at ₹699. More themes launching every month.

  • Full source code included — not just templates
  • Next.js 15 App Router + Tailwind CSS + TypeScript
  • Every page designed: home, about, pricing, contact
  • Mobile responsive, SEO-ready, accessibility-first
  • One-time payment — no subscriptions, lifetime access
  • Razorpay payment integration — buy instantly with UPI or card

How AI changed how I design

I'm not saying AI designs for me. I say: AI is my junior designer who never sleeps. I describe what I want — 'a glassmorphism card with a violet glow, soft shadow, white border' — and I get 10 variations in 30 seconds. I pick the best one, refine it, add the interactions. What used to take 2 hours takes 20 minutes.

This speed is what lets uidrop.dev stay at ₹69 while competitors charge ₹5,000+. My costs are low. My output is high. The savings go to you.

The late nights part

I built the first version of uidrop.dev in 3 weeks while working a day job. 10 PM to 2 AM, every night. Not because I had to — because I genuinely couldn't stop. Every time I built a new component, I thought: 'this is going to save someone 4 hours.' That feeling doesn't get old.

What's coming next

  • More website themes — restaurant, coaching, SaaS, portfolio
  • AI-powered component generator — describe it, get the code
  • Animation packs with Framer Motion
  • Full design system with tokens and docs
  • Stripe payments for international developers
